Inch by inch, anything's a cinch
Been There
Dare to dream, dare to do, dare to succeed!
Done That
If you can dream it, you can achieve it!
Been There Too
Everyday, in everyway I'm getting better and better!
Done That Too...
Many of us remember those motivational mantras from the seventies and eighties! How they moved us, lifted us, inspired us and in many cases propelled us to success in our careers. The "positive principles" that drove the economic engine for us babyboomers are still accepted as valid, but according to what I've been hearing in conversations with my peers they are less focused than they were 35 years ago. Today, most of us have "been there, done that"--and now that we've dreamed, schemed, believed and achieved we are left asking,
NOW WHAT?
For over thirty years, I have taken advantage of every opportunity to spread the gospel of the power of positive principles as a means of helping people improve themselves and in realizing and reaching for their full potential. Naturally, there are no principles that guarantee 100% success, but my own business experiences and that of countless others I've known prove that these simple principles work...when we make them work! The question many of us who are veterans of the seventies and eighties face now is not how to succeed or accumlate or acquire, rather it is what do we do now? Do these same principles, that fueled us in our careers have any validity now that we are over 55 years old?
The more I thought about these questions the more I felt compelled to develop a workshop, as well as platform talk to address the matter. Over the next six weeks, I will be sharing one of the major points from the outline I'm developing. Even if you aren't a babyboomer, I think you will find the positive principles applicable to your situation. I look forward to your feedback as we spend the next month and a half discussing how the positive principles can still make a difference in our sense of fulfillment, vitality and happiness.
Let me close this edition of Monday Morning with one of my favorite stories.
One evening, a little boy with a BB gun stood on a hill outside his village. He was shooting BB's toward the moon. The town banker came by and asked him, "Son, what are you doing?" To which the child replied, "I'm trying to shoot the moon."
The banker scoffed and said, "That's not a realistic goal. You'll never hit the moon from down here with a BB gun!"
The little boy stood silent for a moment, then replied, "Maybe not, but I'm getting closer to my target than if I just wished I could shoot the moon."
Have a great and profitable week.
And, regardless of your age...don't be afraid to take a few moon shots!
